Scary Mansion: Beginner’s Guide

Scary Mansion is a horror game in which you play as a child who has ended up in Dr. Crow’s mansion. At the start of the game you will find training. By the way, this is a separate level of passage, in which you will get acquainted with the main features of the gameplay. After you approach the door of the mansion and ring the bell, you will be dragged into the house. You wake up in a small room - a nursery, the door of which will be locked. Then you will hear the voice of a little girl, she will give you tips for the game, teach you how to act, and also warn you that you have come across a very evil person.

Who is Dr. Crowe? This is a bloodthirsty maniac killer. He kidnaps people on the night of Friday the 13th, when all the evil is revealed. Crow locks his victims in a large and scary house. Legend has it that the mansion was previously used as a psychiatric hospital, which is why there are so many strange objects left in it. Rumor has it that Dr. Crowe himself was a patient of the hospital, most likely he himself was the attending physician, who went mad, and all the people of the town were afraid of him. But no one has heard of him for a long time. Crowe is ready to do everything possible to keep his victim from getting free. If you let the villain get too close to you, everything can turn into a disaster.

Difficulty levels - there are 4 levels in the game:

  1. Invisible.
  2. Light.
  3. Average.
  4. Heavy.

Invisibility is the level of training at the start of the game. In total, you have 3 attempts to escape from the mansion. However, you won’t be able to. The criminal will catch you anyway and bury you in the cemetery. How sad it is. But do not despair, this is the beginning of the gameplay. In the future, you can pass the levels as many times as you like after successfully completing the missions. But if you use all the attempts that are given to you at each level, then the game will be over for you, and you will start the passage again.

As the difficulty level increases, previously locked doors will open, new tasks will be given, and Dr. Crow himself will become faster and smarter. If you decide to stand up for yourself at a dangerous moment and hit the old man, for example, with a mount or a bolt cutter, then nothing will work, he will just catch you with his stick and drag you to him.

Skills are skills that you need to buy for the coins found and received for the level of the coin. We recommend that you do not hesitate to watch the commercials that the game offers you, as you will increase your rewards. Skills make the passage of the gameplay easier and more comfortable. Some skills unlock new mysteries in the mansion. There are abilities that require pumping. Bring your skills to perfection!

Experience - at the end of each level of difficulty of the game, you will be given game experience. As soon as you accumulate the required number of experience points, your level will increase. As you level up, you get more gaming options. For example, you can learn new abilities, buy previously unavailable items in the store.

Gameplay Tips:

  1. Trying to get out, carefully inspect all corners of the house, chests of drawers (wardrobes, tables), look into every available room, into the back of a pickup truck in the garage, try different combinations of passages.
  2. Remember the location of the rooms, as you will have to quickly run away from the old man at some points. It is important to remember not only where, which room, but also what is in it. For example, a ventilation shaft, a secret passage, a hole in the floor, and so on.
  3. Pay attention to various insignificant, at first glance, objects. For example, buttons above doors, a smoke detector, a TV and other objects. They may be useful for you to escape.
  4. Collect coins as much as possible, which will be useful to you to pass further more difficult levels. For them, you can buy skills and items in the store.
  5. Remember which doors fit which keys, as they are different, but they open the same doors at each level.
  6. Just because Dr. Crow can’t see you doesn’t mean he can’t hear you. Try to make as few sounds as possible, move slowly or squat. In some places, you can hide just by crouching. For example, behind a car or a sofa. Since you are a child, Crowe may not see you at first sight.
  7. On the easy difficulty level, you can hide in closets, in ventilation or under the bed. Next, the doctor will examine all possible places of your cache. When you hide, don’t move, just freeze and wait for the old man to leave.
  8. If you ran out of the room, and Dr. Crow is standing with his back to you - do not move, let him leave. Every movement makes a sound, and the criminal reacts very quickly to any sounds.
Keep in mind that all the items you need to escape will randomly appear in new places each time.

Therefore, we did not focus on search places. If in the text we indicated the location of some thing, then it is either stationary (for example, like a box or a large bed with white sheets), or there is a high probability of items appearing in these places (but they can be different). Coins also spawn randomly, however there are a few regular places where you can find them:

  1. Toilet next to the nursery (on the floor and (or) in the nightstand).
  2. A chest of drawers to the left of the exit from the nursery near the red sofa (there is often a small yellow key to the door located next to the chest of drawers).
  3. Cabinet under the TV opposite the sofa on the 1st floor.
  4. Garage: on a rack, in lockers or under a car.
  5. Chest of drawers near the front door. In it you can also find a bunch of keys or other items.
  6. A chest of drawers in a room with a refrigerator on the 1st floor (the room opens with a yellow key). There is also a utility room with a ventilation shaft. In the closet you can often find not only a trifle, but also other items.
  7. Closet drawers in the hallway.
  8. Cabinets and chests of drawers on the 2nd floor.
  9. Chest of drawers in the billiard room.
  10. Restroom on the 2nd floor.
Check absolutely all available places. Take all the items you can take. If you only have 1 slot, put things in 1 place so that they are easy to pick up (it is better to choose a walk-through room or hallway for this). If something in the interior of the house is described on hover, therefore, you can interact with this object, the main thing is to guess how.

Hints. If you get lost and don’t know how to proceed. Open Hints. This is a book that is located in the upper left corner. In it you can see all the necessary items for escaping at the current level, as well as read the following:

These hints can be obtained for free just by watching ads. By the way, for advertising you can increase the prize for completing the level by 4 times, get the necessary items from the store (they will be presented on the level description page). In the game, advertising gives a good bonus that simplifies the passage of the game. If you don’t like intrusive commercials, just turn off the internet on your mobile device. You can play the game without it. If you want to thank the developers of the project with money, then pay for disabling advertising. To do this, in the menu between levels there is a button "Disable ads" in the lower left corner.

Useful items and skills:

  1. Lighter (item) - it becomes possible to lure Dr. Crowe out of the mansion into the garden. To do this, point the lighter at the smoke detector, after which the fire alarm will go off, and the old man will leave the house for a while.
  2. Hold your breath (skill) - useful for you at medium and difficult levels. Allows you to dive into water.
  3. Hourglass (item) - the surrounding world freezes for 7 seconds. Cooldown 300 seconds. If a maniac grabs you, then you can stop time, after which Crow will freeze, and you can run away or hide.
  4. Ring of Salvation (item) - Grants invisibility for 7 seconds, cooldown 300 seconds. Just like the Hourglass, it gives you the opportunity to escape from the pursuer.
  5. Hidden power (skill) - it becomes possible to lift heavy objects. For example, you can push the "Old Beam" to get over the hole in the floor on the 2nd floor (above the garage).
  6. Belt bag (item) - opens 2 additional slots for items. You can carry them with you.
  7. Light tread (skill) - reduces the likelihood of floor creaking. We recommend pumping this ability first of all, since at high levels Dr. Crow is very sensitive and attentive.

Scary Mansion: Easy Level Walkthrough

At the beginning of each level, you will watch a cutscene of a child approaching the mansion. If you do not want to watch it, click on the "Skip" button in the upper right corner. And every time you will wake up in the children’s room on the 1st floor. It is worth noting that ventilation does not open here. To open it, you need to go through the ventilation pipe from the adjacent room. And it is locked. In the table below, we have presented all the items that you should find for escaping on easy difficulty.

Children’s. Pay attention to the interior of the room, inspect all the drawers available to you. Inspecting the surface of the tables will also not be superfluous, since workbenches, tables or racks may contain things you need in passing. After examining the room, we recommend that you look into the restroom, which is located to the right of the nursery. Remember that the corridor ends in a dead end. The only way out you can do later is to ventilate.

From the corridor you get into the hall of the 1st floor. This is a passage room and an adjacent room with a hall in front of the stairs leading to the 2nd floor. To the right of the exit from the corridor, there is a chest of drawers in which you can find a small yellow key (for the door that is located nearby) and coins. Also, the key can lie in the cabinet under the TV or in the next room. You need to carefully inspect everything.

If, when trying to open any door, the inscription "Closed" appears, therefore, it is required to find the key, after which you can open it and inspect the new room. If the door says "Accessible at intermediate (hard) level", this means that at the current level you will not be able to access the room.

Once in the room adjacent to the children’s room (a room with a refrigerator), you need to inspect all the boxes. There is a closet in which you can hide in case of an unforeseen situation. From the room you can get into the pantry, where there is another ventilation. It just opens (you need to move the cursor over it and click on the ventilation). Now you can crawl through it and open the passage from the nursery. Also, the ventilation pipe leads to the 2nd floor.

Open all the vents in the mansion so that you can hide in them in a difficult moment and move around the house calmly!

A room with a bed. After going through the ventilation to the 2nd floor, you will find yourself in the toilet of a large room with a double bed (room with a bed). It is notable for the fact that here you can find some object necessary for escaping at any level. In our case, we found a large bunch of keys and coins in the chest of drawers. Here, on the bedside table, there is a box, which will become available at the hard level.

Blue corridor. After inspecting the premises, open the bolt on the door, after which you can go to the hall of the 2nd floor. From it there is an exit to the balcony (where nothing appears), also from the hall you can get into a blue dead-end corridor with 2 doors. One of the doors has a combination lock. You should not linger here for a long time, since you do not have an emergency exit from a narrow corridor.

Exit. In the hall on the 2nd floor there is a hole in the floor through which you can jump onto the chest of drawers near the front door and open it. If you don’t, then just don’t reach the bolt. At the moment of opening the door, you need to be extremely careful, as Dr. Crowe feels that they want to escape from him, and will try to stop you. You will need not only to open the lock, but also to move the bolt. Therefore, you need to calculate the time, whether you have time to do this before the appearance of the criminal or not.

When you open the door and try to get out of the house, the tenant will overtake you. At this point, you need to immediately run away, as Crow will not be able to follow you, and will stop on the top step. The sinister magic of the house will not let him go down and will pull him back.

Take your time to leave the mansion, as this is the easiest level, then spend some time exploring the house, remember the location of the rooms and inaccessible doors that will open in the next stages. In the future, you may not have such an opportunity. And at this level it is very easy to run away and hide from the maniac.

Scary Mansion: Walkthrough of the middle level

Room above the garage. Here, you have reached the average level of difficulty of the game. You still have 3 escape attempts. Previously closed rooms will become available to you, new items for salvation will appear. Dr. Crowe will hear you much more clearly than at an easy level. At the same time, he can crawl and jump. Also, the criminal will learn to open closets and look under beds to find you. Therefore, the only place where he will not get is ventilation. In the table below, we have presented all the items that you should find for an escape on an average difficulty level.

At the beginning of the passage of the average level, your actions will be similar to starting on the easy level of difficulty. Therefore, we will describe only the main points, and tell you what items you need to find in order to complete a successful escape. First you need to find a steel-colored key. We had it in one of the boxes in the room on the 1st floor, which was locked on the easy difficulty level. This key opens a room located on the 2nd floor. When you open it, you will find a hole in the floor, through which you can see a pickup truck standing in the garage.

In the room with the broken floor there is an "Old Beam" that can be pushed with the "Hidden Power" skill. But if you did not have time to buy this skill, then it’s okay, since there is nothing on the other side of the room, except for coins. The hole in the floor will come in handy a little later.

Ball. It is worth noting that the 2nd door in the garage will become available to you at the current difficulty level. In it you will find coins or a ball that can be hit by a button above the garage gate and above the grate on the way to the exit from the house. But you don’t need to press the button in the garage, as the siren will sound and Dr. Crow will instantly be at your side, and your attempt will fail.

You have only 1 way out of the scary mansion - this is the front door through which you got into the house. Keep this in mind, and we do not recommend doing rash acts.

Crow. This is the level at which you should learn how to lure Dr. Crow to the 1st or 2nd floors, depending on where you need to perform the action. For example, decipher the code from the door lock on the 2nd floor. Open all the vents, and as soon as the maniac chases you, immediately hide in them. Through the ventilation shaft, you will quickly find yourself at the right level of the house.

One of the ways to draw attention to yourself is the pianos standing in the hall on the 1st floor. Hover over it, click on the interaction icon, and immediately run away to the nursery, hide in the ventilation.

As we wrote above, you can lure the criminal into the garden using a lighter and a smoke detector, which is located in the corridor next to the stairs. After the doctor leaves the house, you will have a couple of minutes to complete the maneuver.

Lock code. In a room with a large bed on the 2nd floor in a chest of drawers, you will find a piece of paper with numbers and incomprehensible symbols. This is the cipher that you need to solve in order to get the code for the digital lock. The sheet must be taken to the 1st floor and placed next to the TV near a stack of books. After that, you need to turn on the TV by "interacting" with the red power button on it.

The screen will light up and symbols representing numbers will appear on it. Match the symbols on the TV with the symbols on the piece of paper. Opposite each character is a number, which will be equivalent to a character from the screen. In our case, the code was - 8803.

Remember it or write it down so that you can correctly select the code on the digital lock. But if you don’t remember and write it down, then it’s okay. The TV will continue to broadcast characters until the end of the level. Now rise to the 2nd floor, and head to the blue corridor. Don’t forget that it ends in a dead end, so you should act quickly and carefully.

The locked room is Dr. Crow’s horrific laboratory where he dissects his victims. Here you will also find some coins or an item. Almost always, there is a ball here (which we wrote about above). If you don’t find him in the room with washing machines by the garage on the 1st floor, then he will definitely be here.

Scarecrow. Now it is worth returning to the room with the destroyed floor. Through the gap, you can jump into the back of the pickup truck, where the scarecrow’s head lies. You need to take it to the billiard room on the 2nd floor. The room was not accessible at an easy level. In the billiard room, you need to place your head on the shield, which is located to the right of the large portrait hanging above the fireplace.

After you place the scarecrow in place, a cache will open, which is located behind the landscape painting in the center of the room between the windows. In the cache will hang a yellow key to the room with a refrigerator on the 1st floor. Do not forget to inspect the room for coins and other items.

The escape. Now you need to go down to the 1st floor and open the door with the yellow key (it is located next to the chest of drawers, standing not far from the red sofa, next to the passage to the nursery). You should inspect the room, then go into the utility room, pick up the tongs and open the ventilation shaft.

Now you have all the components for a successful escape: this is a ball and a bolt cutter. First you should lure Crow to the 2nd floor. Then go to the iron grate, which closes the passage to the exit. Throw the ball at the button above the grate. It will open, and you need to quickly take the tongs and run to the door. Immediately, not a second, with these bolt cutters, cut off the chain that hangs on the front door. Run outside, now you’re free!

Scary Mansion: Walkthrough of a difficult level

Very fast Crow. Congratulations, you’ve made it to the hardest level in the game! You have only 2 escape attempts, a lot of puzzles, and a very fast and smart Dr. Crow. He will not only climb cabinets and look under the bed, but he will also be able to predict where you will come out from if you hide in the ventilation shaft. Therefore, you need to be very careful and cautious. Walk very quietly, or quickly run away from him. Use various items that we wrote about in the Beginner’s Guide - Useful Items and Skills chapter. In the table below, we have presented all the items that you should find for escaping on a difficult level of the game.

First, we recommend finding a small yellow key. Often he comes into view in the cabinet under the TV on the 1st floor. Then they need to open the room near the dresser (which we wrote about earlier). We think that you have already approached this level of difficulty prepared and memorized the location of all the rooms in the mansion.

In the closet, you need to open the ventilation, and do this action in all rooms where there is access from the ventilation shaft. Now you should find a large bunch of keys. The procedure described by us in the article is not mandatory, you can build your own rescue maneuvers. Usually, a bunch of keys is in the bedside table, which is in the restroom on the 2nd floor.

Once you find the keys, take them to the grate by the front door and leave them there. Now you should again go up to the 2nd level of the house in a room with a large bed, after moving the bolt from the inside of the room. Here you can find a carved key. He opens a previously locked door in the 2nd floor blue hallway.

Book. In the room you will find a book that lies in a locked table. The key is lying somewhere on the floor or on the table itself. The book opens a secret passage that leads to sewer pipes. You should take the book to the 1st floor in a room with a fireplace. Opposite the fireplace is a bookcase. On the middle shelf there is an empty place where you need to insert the found tome. Before entering the secret corridor, carefully inspect the room. It contains a valve. Pick it up and go explore the secret passages.

Water. On the way you will see a grate through which you can see a pedestal with coins and a sheet of paper lying on it. You won’t need paper, but you can pick up coins. To do this, go a little forward, to a round hole in the floor. This is where the Breath Hold ability comes in handy. You need to swim under water for several meters, and get out into a small room. Here on the pipe there is a mount on which the valve should be fixed.

Now return to the house, and on the way through the grate pick up coins. By the way, in the room with the mount there may also be some necessary item, therefore, in any case, it must be checked. Returning to the mansion, you need to find the ball. In our case, he was in a room with washing machines, which can be accessed through the garage. Some players have found the ball in the back of a car or in a room on the 2nd floor, which can be accessed through the blue corridor.

Portrait. With the ball, you should go to the billiard room and go to the portrait hanging over the fireplace. "Interact" with him, after that the portrait will fall, and your task is to throw a ball into the opened hole. To do this, move the cursor slightly above the center of the hole in order to accurately hit the ball on the target. The ball will fly down the fireplace shaft.

Now you should go downstairs to the room, which is located under the billiard room. In it, you need to go to the fireplace and pick up the stuffed animal that fell out of it. Be careful as you can burn yourself in the fireplace. Place the ball next to the bars at the front door. With the scarecrow, go up to the 2nd floor to the billiard room, and place it on the shield (as you did in the middle level of the game). In case you forgot, the shield is located on the wall to the right of the place where the portrait hung before.

Lasers. After the action you have done, a cache will open behind the picture - a landscape, from where you need to pick up the key. This is the key that unlocks the box located in the room with the bed on the 2nd floor. There is a remote control in the box. It is needed to disable laser protection in the laboratory. But first you must open the digital lock. This is done by decrypting the lock code. You can still find the cipher sheet in the room with the bed on the 2nd floor.

After calculating 4 numbers (manipulation is performed at the TV on the 1st floor, as you did on the average level of difficulty of the game), open the combination lock at the door in the blue corridor on the 2nd floor. Now you should turn off the lasers, for this you will need a remote control. Take it in your hands and aim at the lines from laser protection.

In the laboratory on the wall you will see a mount that will come in handy in the future. But first, you need a screwdriver, which is hidden in a chest of drawers by the front door on the 1st floor. You need to go down, pick up the ball, and throw it at the button, which is located above the grate. After the grate opens, go to the chest of drawers and take the screwdriver. Now head to the lab to get the mount.

While you are on the 2nd floor, proceed to the hole in the floor through which you jumped on an easy level to the chest of drawers standing by the front door. On the middle level, you couldn’t interact with the hole as it was boarded up with boards, but now you have the ability to tear them off the floor. Having performed this manipulation with the help of the mount, you will open access to the passage.

The escape. First you need to pick up the screwdriver again where you left it. Head to the secret passage on the 1st floor, which has a similar grate to the one you opened in the lab. Here you need to get a bolt cutter. You need to approach the open grate where you previously left a large bunch of keys.

Break the chain on the front door, and pick up the bunch of keys from the floor. Go with her to the 2nd floor, and, through the hole in the floor, jump down to the chest of drawers. You just have to open the lock and move the bolt. Run as fast as you can from this scary place!

Remember that Dr. Crow somehow senses that you are about to leave his home. Some time before your successful escape, he will rush around the rooms in search of his quick victim. It is in these dangerous moments that you should use the various items purchased in the store before the passage level.

Of course, you can go through the entire game without additional benefits on pure enthusiasm. But why make life difficult for yourself? For the first time, you can complete the level with items. Then you will be able to go through different levels of the adventure without limiting your attempts. Nothing new will appear in the mansion, you will still increase your gaming experience and receive coins, but many players periodically log into the game to enjoy the process. Remember that each time the items needed for rescue will be hidden in new places, you may find them where nothing was before.
