The Elder Scrolls Blades: A Beginner’s Guide

The plot of the game. The game takes place after the events of the Great War in an unknown city located on the territory of the Third Empire. The fugitive, who is the player’s character, returns to his hometown and finds it in flames. On his way to the city, he is ambushed by mercenaries under the command of the Blood Queen, also known as Urzoga gra-Batul. She is a vassal of the Empire, and the city belongs to her fief. Upon arrival, the Runaway talks to Elder Junius, who asks him to return the fleeing townspeople, after which they will assist in the restoration of the city.

The Blades begins with a short prologue about the Blades and how their order was disbanded. This is followed by training in the basics of combat, which consists in learning how to attack and block attacks, as exemplified by the battle between the Fugitive and the Thalmor agent. After that, the Fugitive is explained how to navigate the game world in order to get to his destroyed city. In the process, there are several hostile creatures, such as, for example, wolves. In addition, the Runaway meets with two mercenaries, one of whom has to be killed, and the second surrenders and enters into a dialogue.

Gameplay. Blades features at least three game modes. The player can pump and customize his character. On mobile devices, the game is possible in both portrait and landscape mode, and specific combat actions are performed by various taps and gestures on the screen. The game features three types of weapons - cutting, crushing and slashing. To create and improve the player turns to the master of blacksmithing and the master of enchantment. So the character can be temporarily strengthened with potions.

Abyss. "Abyss" is an endless mode that allows an unlimited number of passes and is a dungeon filled with an endless stream of enemies that become stronger and more dangerous as the player moves deeper. With each level of the Abyss, the player gradually unlocks rewards - various items, from resources to weapons and armor. Sometimes the reward is chests containing a random set of loot, which includes gold, gems, ingredients, resources for crafting and construction, as well as weapons and armor.

Arena. The "Arena" mode consists of one-on-one battles with other players.

Town. The City game mode is the main part of the game. Its goal is to restore the player’s hometown. Various items can be used as building materials to rebuild a city in several ways. Also in the city, the player can accept and perform various tasks. Various buildings can be erected in the city, such as:

And all kinds of Decorations, both made in the Craftsman’s Workshop, and purchased as rewards for assignments.

Character development. The player’s character has the following three branches of skill development:

Details tab is divided into columns "Character Details", "Attack" and "Defense".

How do I create a character? You can only create one character per account for The Elder Scrolls: Blades. Once a character is created, it cannot be deleted. However, you can change your character’s appearance, race, and gender. To do this, visit Theodor Gorlas near the gate of your village. He has the ability to change the appearance, race and gender, and appearance of your character.

How do I sell items? In order to sell items from your inventory, you must have rescued Lond the Blacksmith. If you haven’t saved it yet, check your quest log.

How to find rare building materials? Rare building materials for the city are found only in chests. Chests can be earned during quests, assignments and progress in the Abyss.

How do I join a guild? To join a guild, your character must be at least 5th level. You need to reach level 5, after which guilds and the arena will become available to you.

How to choose a unique character name? A character’s unique name is the character’s name, followed by a "#" character and a string of numbers. To find your Unique Character ID, follow the instructions below:

  1. During the game, select the menu icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
  2. Select the gear in the lower right corner of the screen.
  3. Your unique character name is found under the "Connect" section as "Character name".

If you do not see your unique character ID, you must play through the Rescue Townfolk quest before the game assigns you a unique character number.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: Combat Guide

The basics of combat. Combat is one of the game modes in The Elder Scrolls: Blades. The battle takes place in real time. In it, as in any other mode, you can open the character page at any time and change the active equipment. This can be important since many opponents have vulnerabilities and resistance to certain types of damage. The character’s own health level is not automatically restored. It can be regenerated with some spells or restored instantly using potions. During the battle, you can use several types of actions.

The beginning of the battle

The battle can be started when you are in one of three game modes: completing a task (both a challenge and a story quest), passing the Abyss, or participating in battles in the Arena.

1. Assignment. It is not necessary to engage in battle with all the opponents you meet. If you wish, you can avoid the battle simply by bypassing the enemy at a sufficient distance. The exceptions are bosses in missions and key opponents in story quests. Defeating them is necessary for the successful completion of the assignment. If the enemy is aggressive, then the fight starts automatically when your character comes close to him.

Different opponents have different "detection radii", it also matters from which side to approach them. In most cases, the battle is one-on-one and the opponents do not move. The exception is small creatures (spiders, spiders, wolves), which can attack in a group and perform jumps. If the enemy is not aggressive, then the character begins a dialogue with him, which, with a certain development, can lead to the beginning of the battle. Some opponents may surrender to the protagonist even before their health level drops to zero.

2. Abyss. In this mode, all opponents are aggressive and never give up. Otherwise, everything is similar to the "Task" mode.

3. Arena. The battle begins after the server has found a pair of suitable players and the command "To battle!" Appears on the screen. The battle is carried out one on one and the characters do not move. There is an opportunity to surrender to your opponent.

Attack

This is the main type of action in combat. To complete it, you need to click anywhere on the screen and 2 circles will appear: white large and red small. As long as you hold your finger, the red circle changes color and grows closer to white and then decreases. When the second circle turns yellow, you can remove your finger from the screen and perform an attack.

1. Critical hit. If you strike (remove your finger or sharply move it to the side) immediately at the moment of merging of both circles, then an attack with increased / critical damage will be performed. The device will inform about this with a short vibration. The amount of additional damage depends on the type of weapon (heavy is the most effective), as well as on the presence of the corresponding enchantment on active equipment.

2. Combo. If, to start an attack, press at the edge of the screen, and after its completion, quickly start a new attack already at the other edge, then it is possible to obtain a combo effect: the circles will approach faster, and the damage done will be greater. Combos are easier to perform with light weapons. A series of combo attacks is interrupted in the event of a defense or skill use.

To cancel an attack with a weapon already brought in, you need to slide your finger down the screen.

Protection

You can block enemy attacks both with a shield (the most effective method) and with a weapon (light - the least effective). To start the defense, you must press and hold the shield icon that appears on the screen during the battle. In this case, your character will first be covered with a shield / weapon completely, and then slightly lower it.

1. High block. This state lasts a few moments after the start of the defense and is characterized by the possibility of stunning the enemy and a more effective reduction in damage taken. That is why it is important to anticipate the actions of the enemy and start defense not in advance, but at the moment of his attack. The device will report a successful block with a short vibration.

2. Low block. This is the main defense state, it starts automatically after completing a high block and lasts until the player removes his finger from the shield icon.

And when performing an attack, and when taking damage from the enemy, your weapons and armor wear out - more often look into the forge.

Using skills

In any other game mode, you can open the character’s page at any time and choose three active ones from all the learned spells and abilities. During a battle, it is possible to change active skills only in a pause between performing an attack, defense, or using a spell or ability.

1. Spells and abilities. For each skill selected, a corresponding icon is displayed on the screen. Actually, by clicking on it, the use of the skill begins. Each spell or ability spends a certain amount of magic or stamina of the character. The recovery speed of which depends on the character’s skills and the presence of the corresponding enchantment on active equipment.

2. Skills. These are passive skills and do not need to be selected. All learned skills are applied automatically in battle.

Computer characters have sufficient AI. Do not stand for a long time with a raised sword or shield - the enemy will definitely react to this and change his actions.

Conditions in battle

Both the protagonist and the opponent can impose temporary negative effects on the opponent during the battle. Some unique items of equipment can perform the same function in passive mode.

Potions

In any game mode (except "City") all available poisons and restorative potions can be used at any time. In combat, the only exception is the state of paralysis. Any potion can be selected on the tab of the same name on the character’s page by clicking either the health indicator bar or the diamond icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Also, at a critically low level of any character indicator (health, magic, power reserve), the corresponding icon appears on the screen. And after pressing it, the character himself drinks the potion necessary to increase this indicator.

In boss fights, it is highly advisable to use buffs / debuffs. For example, cold damage against explicit "physicists" or electricity damage and the "Elemental Barrier" spell against magicians.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: Damage and Defense

Concept. There are several types of damage in The Elder Scrolls: Blades, as well as vulnerabilities and resistances to it. Most opponents can inflict damage of several, strictly defined for them, types (some of them only one). But the protagonist has much more opportunities for inflicting various types of damage.

Magic damage. This type of damage can be done:

Charami (passively):

Spells. Offensive spells that deal magic damage are divided into four schools:

The amount of damage inflicted by spells can be increased by increasing the rank of these spells. Enchantments on equipment cannot be removed or changed.

Physical damage. This type of damage can be done:

Physical damage types. Physical damage is divided into three types, each of which can only inflict certain weapons:

The amount of damage inflicted by weapons can be increased by quenching at the forge. You cannot reduce the amount of physical damage of a weapon or change its type.

Damage protection. Both directly in battle and outside of it, there are various options to reduce the impact of damage on the protagonist:

The Elder Scrolls Blades: Vulnerability and Resilience Features

Vulnerability and Resilience. Damage vulnerability is a negative characteristic of opponents, leading to an increase in the impact of a certain type of damage on them. Damage resistance is a positive characteristic of both the protagonist and opponents, leading to a decrease in the impact of a certain type of damage on them. Depending on the vulnerabilities and resistances of a particular opponent, it is important to choose equipment that allows both to maximize the damage done to him and to minimize the damage taken by the protagonist.

Increased resistance. Resistance exists for every type of damage in the game. The game interface does not provide any indication of the resistances of the opponents. Therefore, the only source of information about them directly in the game is the tips on the boot screensavers. Unlike vulnerability to damage, resistance can be both innate (natural) and acquired. Inherent resistances are inherent in some races and one of them can be obtained at the beginning of the game when creating a character. In the future, the protagonist’s resistance to various types of damage can be increased in several ways:

Another difference from vulnerability: resistance can be both partial and complete - "immunity". In the latter case, the enemy is completely immune to damage of a certain type. The protagonist has no immunities.

Impact of vulnerability. Unlike resistance to damage, vulnerability is an innate (natural) characteristic, that is, neither the protagonist nor the opponents have a way to impose, remove or change it, neither for themselves nor for their opponents. A vulnerability exists for every type of damage in the game. During the battle, next to the enemy’s health indicator, icons of his vulnerabilities are displayed. When dealing damage of a suitable type, the icon "flashes" (changes color from white to red) - see the screenshot.

The presence of any vulnerability in the enemy does not mean that only this type of damage will have an effect on him. Of course, you can also win by inflicting damage of a completely different kind. But knowing the vulnerabilities and using the right weapons and / or magic will help you defeat a specific opponent much easier and faster. The protagonist has no vulnerabilities. Most opponents have two vulnerabilities: one to physical damage and one to magical damage, but there are exceptions.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: Character’s weapons, characteristics and properties

Weapon characteristics. Weapons are one of the types of equipment in The Elder Scrolls: Blades. Each item has four main characteristics:

  1. Standard damage is the amount of physical damage to an opponent without armor, vulnerabilities and resistances, but taking into account the skills of the protagonist.
  2. Attack speed - average damage per second when performing continuous standard attacks, excluding the "combo" effect.
  3. Blocking class is a modifier of reducing the protagonist’s damage from an opponent’s attack when blocking with a weapon.
  4. Condition - the durability of an item, decreasing with each use.

These characteristics can be improved by hardening and enchanting. Also, enchanting allows you to add new properties to the weapon.

Equipment type. Like all equipment in the game, weapons are divided into common and unique: artifacts and special items. These types differ in the methods of obtaining the item and the actions that can be performed with it.

Weapon type. Since battles in the game take place only with direct contact, only melee weapons are present in it. When using a universal weapon with two hands (without a shield), its attack speed and physical damage are increased. The power of some enchantments on other pieces of equipment depends on the type of weapon being attacked.

Damage type. The main type of damage for any weapon is physical, it is divided into: Blunt, Slash and Slash. Most opponents have vulnerability or resistance to a certain type of damage, respectively increasing or decreasing its impact. Additional magic damage can only be provided by enchanted equipment. Currently, the protagonist does not have access to weapons that inflict exclusively (or mostly) magical damage. Although opponents have it, for example, the staves of the Underground Lich.

The form. Only for conventional weapons is the shape clearly defined, it is reflected in its name. The shapes of artifacts and special items are clearly unspecified in the game. Each weapon class contains one item of all nine forms.

Class. Only conventional weapons are classified by class. Artifacts and special items can be attributed to a certain class rather conditionally. Each class is distinguished by the basic material from which items are created. With the increase in the level, all the main characteristics of the weapon improve.

Name. The name of a weapon crafted or purchased consists of its class and shape, for example, Orcish Mace. The exception is the upper class, in the names of the items of which "bone" is added, for example, "Dragon bone ax". The names of artifacts and special items are unique and the classification of weapons may not reflect at all, for example, "Crusher".

In the case of hardening and / or enchanting, their names are added to the name of a normal weapon or special item, for example, "Orc Poison Mace", "Crusher (Good)" or "Orc Poison Mace (Good)". Artifacts cannot be upgraded, so their names never change.

Special items. Special items are items of equipment in The Elder Scrolls: Blades that have a number of artifact attributes:

But at the same time, they have a number of differences:

Several special items have previously been featured in other The Elder Scrolls games, both as artifacts and as regular gear.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: Applying Artifacts

Artifacts. Along with the characteristics common to all artifacts in The Elder Scrolls series, items of this type in The Elder Scrolls: Blades have a number of features. An artifact can only be obtained randomly when opening a high-level chest. They cannot be hardened, enchanted, or disassembled.

Some artifacts have a reduced limitation on the level of the protagonist, in comparison with the usual equipment of the same class and level. Almost all of these items were previously featured in other The Elder Scrolls games. Many of the enchantments applied to artifacts are improved versions of the standard enchantments, but some of them are really unique - their effects cannot be obtained in the game in any other way.

Types of artifacts

1. Chainmail of the Lord. This is a legendary artifact of Tamriel. Morihaus’s Armor, or Kynareth’s Gift, this ancient breastplate has unimaginable properties. It gives the wearer the ability to restore health, reflect spells, and with special use, heal from poisoning. It is said that if Kynareth recognizes the bearer of this cuirass as unworthy, then she will take the Lord’s Mail, and it will be hidden from mortals until the next chosen one appears. Requires level 50 protagonist to wear. The artifact has a unique set of enchantments:

2. Ebony Chainmail. Ebony Mail is an artifact, armor created by the Daedric Prince Boethiah, the patron saint of the dark elves. The strength of the armor gives the wearer protection from fire, magic, and a magical shield. Only Boethiah determines (while he is very fickle) who and how long will wear the Ebony Mail. Requires level 28 protagonist to wear. The artifact has a unique set of enchantments:

Deal 10 damage. poison damage per second. In battle, emits smoke, disguising the fighter.

3. Ring of the Warlock. Archmage Syrabane’s Warlock’s Ring is one of the most popular artifacts in Tamriel, described in myth and fairy tale. According to tales, Cyrabane saved the entire continent using this ring, and since then it has helped adventurers achieve lofty goals. It gives the wearer the ability to reflect spells, increases speed and restores health. No one can wear it for too long, because it is completely and willingly subordinate only to Syrabane.

4. Tickle Fork. The Itchy Fork is one of the strangest things created by the Daedric Prince of Madness Sheogorath. It is of no benefit, but all followers of the Mad God are ready to do anything to get it.

5. Chrysamer. Chrysamer or Paladin’s Blade is an ancient claymore, whose attacking abilities are overridden only by its own defense abilities. It gives the wearer health, protects him from fire, and reflects any spells directed at him back to the mage. Chrysamer does not go over the carriers too much, serving the owner for an unlimited time. Requires level 23 protagonist to wear. The artifact has a unique set of enchantments:

Restores magic by the amount of damage dealt, up to 6, 8 and 10 units. for light, general purpose and heavy weapons, respectively. +3 health regeneration per second.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: Enchanting Guide

Concept. Enchanting is an additional gear mod in The Elder Scrolls: Blades. They can both improve the main characteristics of the item, and add new ones to it. Enchantments are divided into main and bonus ones.

The main enchantment. It is this type of enchantment that the player can apply with the help of enchantment - the main service of the Enchanter’s Tower. The maximum level of enchantments cannot be higher than the level of this special building. Unlike tempering, enchanting a specific item can only be done once. Enchanting requires time, money, soul gems, and material appropriate for the type of enchantment.

All the main enchantments have their own names, determined by their type, level, and also the type of equipment. After enchanting, the name of the item itself changes accordingly, for example, "Glass Mace of Poison" or "Ebony Shield of Shock". The enchanting effects for light and heavy weapons are reflected in the table below:

LevelLight weaponHeavy weapon
1Stubbornness +29Injection +57
3Perseverance +40Pierce +79
5Tenacity +52Pierce +101
7Aggression +63Break +124
nineSteadfastness +74Invasion +146
tenIron Will +80Break +157

Bonus enchantments. With each enchantment, there is a chance to get one or even two additional properties. Their type and strength are determined randomly and depend only on the class of the object. Bonus enchantments are not reflected in the name of the item.

Items. Any equipment created by yourself or purchased from the Forge can be enchanted. An item obtained as a trophy or found in a chest may already have both main and bonus enchantments. Each artifact has its own set of enchantments. Some of them are simply stronger than standard enchantments of the same kind, while others add unique characteristics to the item that cannot be acquired in any other way. Upon receipt, special items do not possess any enchantment and, accordingly, can be enchanted.

Regardless of whether the item was self-enchanted or previously had enchantments, they cannot be removed or changed.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: City Guide

Description. The city is the home of the Runaway and the base location in the game. The choice of its name is left to the player. The specific province of Tamriel in which the city is located is not mentioned anywhere. Although the architectural style and the surrounding nature suggest that this is Cyrodiil, but in dialogues with local residents, the phrase is encountered: "We are so far from the Empire ..." So the question of the true location of the City remains open.

History. The city walls were erected centuries before the events of the game by imperial builders, but the history of the settlement goes back several millennia, dating back to the First Era. Records preserved in the Ayleid catacombs under the city tell of the Ayleid Witch-king Selemaril, who came to power and tried to conquer all of Tamriel. Selemaril was defeated by his own brother, Valentis, and his name was erased from history.

Valentis imprisoned Selemaril with the help of some kind of scroll, ancient even for the Ayleid civilization, in the catacombs. Above the place of imprisonment, a statue of the Founder was erected, in which the Ancient Scroll was placed, which was used in the ritual. The Statue of the Founder was destroyed by mercenaries of the Blood Queen shortly before the start of the main plot of The Elder Scrolls: Blades, as a result of which Selemaril escaped from imprisonment, and a massive fire broke out in the city. Later, the city was rebuilt with the active participation of the Fugitive, Selemaril was again imprisoned in the same place, and the statue of the Founder was restored.

Quests in the city. These are quests of the main storylines. Some of them are related to each other, while others are separate. All tasks are given by the inhabitants of the city, or the characters located in it. The conditions for receiving the task are: the level of the protagonist, the level of prestige of the city and the completion of some other tasks.

Assignments in the city. According to the plot, these are the requests of the residents of the city, which they post on the notice board next to the Town Hall. Technically, assignments are a list of additional game missions, updated both as they are completed and over time.

Trials in the city. These are secondary game goals: to defeat certain opponents, inflict damage of a certain type, and the like. They can be achieved by completing tasks, assignments and passing the Abyss.

Characters. In the city you will meet the following characters:

Buildings and constructions. The main function of buildings is to increase the prestige of the city, but some of them also have a utilitarian purpose. In appearance, buildings and structures are divided into wooden, stone and castle. By designation - into five classes:

The constructed building can be changed in appearance, as well as increase the level (to increase the prestige of the city). Removing a building requires money and brings in a certain amount of materials, while it is destroyed completely. Decorations cannot be improved, but they can be removed, replaced and rearranged for free.

Notes. By default, the city is named "Rivercrest". Through one of the gates you can see the pier, that is, the city stands on the banks of a reservoir or river. The owner of a second store of the same type has no name. It will simply be "alchemist", "enchanter", "blacksmith" or "artisan". Moreover, for different players, these nameless merchants look different: for example, in one case, the second enchanter may be a Khajiit, and in the other, a Dunmer.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: How To Increase The Prestige Of The City?

According to the plot of The Elder Scrolls: Blades, one of the main goals of the protagonist is to restore his hometown after a fire. Prestige can be seen as the yardstick for completing a given task. Currently, the city’s maximum prestige level is 10.

Influence of prestige. With the increasing prestige of the city, more and more permanent residents and visitors will appear in it. Many of them are involved in already open storylines, and some give rise to new ones. That is, high prestige is the way to more tasks. Also, the increase in the prestige of the city expands the possibilities for further construction.

Increased prestige. There are many ways to earn Prestige Points:

The level of an individual building cannot exceed the prestige level of the entire city. The game, of course, does not apply to city planning simulators, but it is desirable to have some kind of development plan. First, it should be taken into account that a residential building occupies one land plot, and a special building - two. Secondly, the removal of the building will require additional money and will return only part of the materials spent on it. And finally, "usability": the protagonist always appears in the city at the main gates, so it is logical to build stores closer to them.

The Elder Scrolls Blades: The Meaning of Special Buildings

Special buildings are one of the classes of structures that the player can build in the City. In the in-game descriptions of The Elder Scrolls: Blades, they are called "shops", but the functionality they provide is much broader than just trading.

Types of buildings. There are four types of special buildings: Alchemy Laboratory, Enchanter’s Tower, Forge and Workshop. You can build a maximum of two buildings for each of them. In theory, no store is required. But given the demand for the services they provide, as well as the involvement in several story quests, it can be argued that there should be at least one special building of each type in the city.

Improvements. As with other buildings, store improvements lead to an increase in the prestige of the city, but this is not the main thing for them. Expansion of functionality is the main goal of raising the level of a special building: in the forge, it becomes possible to work with new materials, in the workshop the range of decorations is expanded, etc. In addition, with each level of the store, the amount of money in its owner increases, which means that you can sell goods to him. for a large amount.

Shop. All special buildings provide the trade service. In each of them, it is possible to sell any item, except for the equipment worn. The sold product can be redeemed back at the same selling price. Also in any store it is possible to disassemble weapons and armor. In this case, the item will be destroyed, and instead of it, a certain amount of blacksmithing materials and precious stones will be obtained.

You can buy in the store only goods of a certain type for him: weapons and armor in the forge, jewelry and building materials in the workshop, and so on. At the same time, there are only a few random items on sale that correspond to the level of this store. The purchased product cannot be returned back at the purchase price. Twice a day, the assortment of all stores is updated, the money supply of their owners is replenished and the opportunity to redeem previously sold items is lost.

Services. Special buildings of each type offer their own unique services:
